Got my OCI card made last month, the South African gentleman who served me was very polite. However what I did notice is for those individuals particularly the elderly who speak little to no English, received very little help from the staff members. I even asked one of the staff members why she was talking in English when the gentleman clearly understood Hindi and she herself could speak the language, the fact that she carried on speaking English when the customer had difficulty understanding was very bad customer service. Consequently, a customer intervened and translated.
Staff are usually unwelcoming, but that is understandable as I can't imagine how hard it must be for them to deal with people on a daily basis. The main problem is their website, as it's a bit outdated and not updated well and up to current web standards. I've had to do a Google search and I found better instructions to a service that I wanted and the same wasn't well explained on their website. Even though you book an appointment you need to take a token and wait for you appointment. I've had to wait for 20 minutes passed my original appointment time. They do not accept credit cards but only debit cards. Following instructions and completing the form fully, my job was done in under 15 mins.
Went there first time and the staff at counter said everything is okay except the photo. the photo according to her was more grey than it should be. Guidelines says photo should not have a white background and i took the photo through a professional photographer who does passport photos. Went there second time with a new photo and this time another staff said my 5 year old child must sign the application. She wouldn't agree my child cant sign. I pointed to the guidelines that said a minor only needs a thumb impression which i had but she wouldn't accept, turned rude and sent me to her manager. Manager was a good man, and the only positive experience i had there. He understood and asked the lady to process the application. That must have hurt her ego i think, she insisted the application will be 100% rejected trying to discourage me from applying. I can say the embassy has processed my application successfully and proved the staffs at this VFS are just unnecessary barrier for a better customer experience.
Waste of time don't bother use evisa. Staff try to be helpful but just don't understand customer care. They want your app to fail so can get more money.
That would be nice if some one check the complete application before issuing the token. (To avoid taking re-token after correcting the application) Thats the way to improve the service and VFS can serve more customers. Happy days for the customers and the staffs.
