Excellent check in facility by passing the need to go through the terminal. Private security and direct access to the Upper Class lounge
Excellent staff and food and comfort.
If you arrive by car, you can pull right up at a private entrance. They have their own security station. It's mere minutes from car/entry to the lounge. I think the longest it ever took me to get to the lounge was 10 minutes. That was mostly walking time.If people are unaware, you can use the Upper Class check-in even if flying economy if you are Virgin Flying Club Gold. I do not know if this applies to partner airline elite status.
As Delta One passengers we were able to use this check-in option, and it was by far the easiest and most pleasant check-in experience at an airport in my memory. Our taxi delivered us to the private entrance and we never had to touch our luggage from that point on. The gentleman who helped us get from the check-in counter to the Virgin Atlantic Lounge did everything possible to make getting through security as smooth as it could be, and the distance we had to travel was remarkably little. Apparently the check-in desks are almost adjacent to the main terminal area.
